This is a traditional knife design from the Canary Islands. The handle is made from goat, sheep, and bison horn, heated and compressed. Brass strips are inlaid into the horn sections, and the sections are separated by brass spacers. The ends are bronze. The blade is differentially tempered O-1 steel.
On the Canary Islands, these knives become family heirlooms, passed from father to son. They are used for everything from cutting vegetables in the kitchen, to pruning banana trees in the plantations.
